HAPPINESS

HAPPINESS NEVER CEASE.

Bhutan’s Scenic Himalayan Journey

The Laya-Gasa Trek is celebrated as one of Bhutan’s most breathtaking trekking routes, guiding adventurers through some of the country’s most pristine and untouched landscapes. This 14-day, 217 km expedition begins at Drukgyel in Paro and winds its way through alpine meadows, towering mountain passes, and dense sub-tropical forests, concluding at Damji in Tashithang.

The first five days follow the same route as the renowned Jomolhari Trek I within Jigme Singye Wangchuck National Park, offering spectacular views of Mt. Jomolhari, Jichu Drake, and Tsherimgang. On the sixth day, the trail branches off as you leave Lingshi and journey to Chebisa, a quaint village graced by a sparkling waterfall, perfect for capturing the serene beauty of Bhutan’s highlands.

Along the trek, you may encounter wildlife unique to Bhutan, including blue sheep and the Takin, the nation’s remarkable national animal. The route also passes through remote Laya villages, home to the Layap people, whose distinct culture, customs, and traditional attire make for a fascinating cultural experience. A day at the renowned Gasa hot springs offers a rejuvenating pause amid your high-altitude adventure. While this trek is challenging, with steep ascents, descents, and high-altitude sections, the reward is an unforgettable journey through some of Bhutan’s most spectacular terrain. The best time to experience this trek is from April to June or mid-September to mid-November, when the weather is clear, and the mountains are at their most striking.
